Residential buildings account for a significant share of total energy consumption in the EU, which is almost 3,900 TWh/year. More than 20% of the EU's total energy consumption is used for heating rooms and water.
With TECH DAYS, ELCO has created a forum where key players from the energy industry can come together and exchange ideas. Current projects are presented, experiences are exchanged and ideas are given on how the EU's ambitious goal of being climate-neutral by 2050 can be achieved. This goal is at the heart of the European Green Deal and is in line with the EU's commitment to global climate protection measures under the Paris Agreement.
Other topics include the challenges and opportunities that are impacting the entire architecture, engineering and construction industry, such as megatrends and new digital technologies like building information modelling and prefabrication to address decades of underperformance in productivity.
Planners, architects and operators from energy supply companies have the opportunity to participate in the TECH DAYS throughout Germany and to exchange ideas with leading speakers in the industry.
On 19 May 2022, one of these forums took place in the BayArena in Leverkusen. The keynote speakers were Martin Pauli from Arup Deutschland Foresight Consulting, Jörg Dengler from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) and Steffan Rappold from Behnisch Architekten.
