The Metropole in Brussels is one of the most famous hotels in Europe. Opened in 1895, the 5-star hotel today is a landmark of the Belgian capital. It offers its guests a unique blend of tradition and elegance against a historical backdrop.
The Metropole is located in the middle of Brussels’ old town, just a few steps from major sights such as the Grand Place and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie. For many years, boilers and burners by ELCO Mat-KLÖCKNER delivered reliable heat and warm water to the antique hotel. However, the use of oil as well as the emissions values and servicing the old system had become out-dated. Renovation had become necessary. One requirement on the part of customers was a high degree of energy efficiency with an optimal cost-benefit ratio. ELCO benefitted from the years of good quality of the old system as well as its reliable customer service. The choice ultimately came down to the TRYON 3 MK 785 cast-iron boiler with the EK 05 modulating gas burner. Total output: 785 kW. Energy saved compared to the previous system: 30 %.
