Something completely new and innovative with regard to ecological technology and domestic comfort – that was the central idea around which the “passive house” in Mariano Comense, a small town near Lake Como in the region of Lombardy, was built. At the same time, this project was a great challenge to all those involved in its planning, because it was unique with regard to energy efficiency and energy saving. At the start of the planning phase, there were as yet no buildings of this kind in Lombardy – and therefore no reference data.
