Innovative ELCO technology saves up to 70 % energy

The Sino-Italian Ecological and Energy Effi cient Building (SIEEB) at the Tsinghua University lies in the South-East of the campus, and has a ground area of around 4,000 m2. The whole complex is equipped with the most innovative technologies. Various novel heating systems were installed in this high-tech building – a challenge for the ELCO planners, whose task it was to implement further systems as a supplement to the existing ones. It was clear up front that this was a project for the most modern heating technology worldwide: a photovoltaic system for electricity generation with a total output of 22 kWp, and a condensing system for warm water processing. As a special feature, the 392 m2 installation surface was mounted on the front, at different levels corresponding to the shape of the building (similar to a grandstand). This clever arrangement allows optimal utilisation of the sun’s energy.
